New Site

Monday, July 10th, 2006

Launched a new site that I did for a friend last week for his company called The Directors Chair. I ended up using the new version of WordPress with the Tiger Admin from orderedlist and also incorporated sifr into the site. Ended up OK, the sifr technique took a bit of frigging around with to get it right, but I think it works well.

FlashVR 360

Friday, July 7th, 2006

Came across FlashVR this morning. It creates 360 degree scrolling panoramas in SWF format.

I am really impressed with how easy it is. I did this in a matter of seconds. It’s main advantage over other technologies is that its using the flash plugin rather than having to download the ipix plugin or the massive quicktime download. There are some Java players out there as well, but they always seem a bit clumsy to me.

Also this way makes it easy to integrate into the site. It’s not free, so if someone knows of a FLA available that acheives the same thing then send me an email tim _at_ timmadden _dot_ com _dot_ au (an effort to combat spam). The principal seems to be have multiple MCs on stage with JPEG scrolling in them offsetting at the left and right edges to get the wrap effect.
